Certified Peer Support Specialist
Job Title: Certified Peer Support Specialist Job Type: [Full-time Contract]
Summary: We are seeking a Certified Peer Support Specialists to join our team, providing vital support to individuals on their journey towards recovery.
The ideal candidate must be nationally certified or possess Indiana state certification as a Peer Support Specialist.
This role involves a combination of either telehealth or in-person interactions, focusing on creating recovery plans and facilitating goal attainment. Case management experience is a valuable asset, as you will assist individuals in accessing resources, finding meetings, securing employment, and building supportive relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Peer Support and Empowerment: Offer empathetic and non-judgmental peer support to individuals with behavioral health challenges, promoting hope, resilience, and recovery.
2. Recovery Planning: Collaborate with clients to develop personalized recovery plans that include specific goals, strategies, and timelines for achieving mental health and wellness objectives.
3. Telehealth and In-Person Support: Conduct virtual telehealth sessions and in-person meetings, ensuring accessibility and flexibility in service delivery.
4. Goal Facilitation: Assist individuals in setting and working towards their recovery goals, providing motivation and guidance throughout the process.
5. Resource Navigation: Help clients access community resources, including mental health services, support groups, employment opportunities, and housing options.
6. Case Management: If applicable, utilize case management skills to coordinate and advocate for clients' needs, ensuring they receive comprehensive support.
7. Supportive Network Building: Encourage individuals to build and maintain supportive relationships with family, friends, and community members as part of their recovery journey.
8. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions, progress, and outcomes in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Qualifications: - National or Indiana State certification as a Peer Support Specialist is required. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills. - Understanding and lived experience with behavioral health challenges. - Knowledge of recovery-oriented principles and practices. - Case management experience (preferred). - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Compassion, empathy, and a non-judgmental attitude. - Reliable transportation for in-person visits (if applicable).
